THE BRAND

Laurastar is a high-end Swiss innovator and retailer. The company invents, manufactures, and sells ironing products featuring a patented Dry Microfine Steam (DMS) technology.  

Laurastar puts environmental concerns first. The company works against the market tendency of planned obsolescence. Their products are certified and under warranty for ten years, which is the brand’s way of respecting their customers and the environment.  

Laurastar is well known for its innovation in bringing natural purification products to the market. The company’s microfine steam technology works deep into the fibers of clothing to preserve fabric, keeping it free from viruses and bacteria. 

Laurastar operates on a direct-to-consumer (DTC) model. The company serves high-end clientele that expect to receive the best quality and service. Because of this, Laurastar’s online presence needed to reflect elegance and prosperity.

THE PROBLEM

Before partnering with DigitlHaus, Laurastar was on Salesforce. This platform was previously known as “Demandware.”

The company needed an eCommerce platform with more customizable options for site management. They also needed to bring down the cost of ownership.

At the time, Laurastar’s website was very outdated. Its interface needed to match the expectations of the company’s top-end clientele.

As the company is based out of Switzerland, their Swiss website was newly designed at the time, but overly complex. They needed a more streamlined website for their growing U.S. customer base. They hoped to develop a site with a better shopping flow and design experience, along with increased conversion opportunities.

Laurastar needed the ability to bring new products to market quickly. Because of their continual innovation, they have several product releases each year and need to be prepared.

Using Salesforce, it would have taken the company weeks to have a developer update their online catalog. Oftentimes, the update would fail once the changes were merged. This was a serious problem that resulted in problems throughout the company. Fortunately, we were here to help.

WHAT WE DID

When Laurastar partnered with the team at DigitlHaus, we strategically planned out design changes and opportunities to improve user experience. We wanted to serve both their administrators and their customers. We evaluated several potential platforms in consultation with leadership at the company.

After considering their specific needs, we chose BigCommerce Enterprise as the platform to host Laurastar’s online store in the U.S. Our team migrated the company’s data from Salesforce to BigCommerce Enterprise.

After our data transfer, we ran an audit on the company’s newly-designed Switzerland site. This allowed our team to consider the pros and cons of the experience and determine the changes that were necessary.

While we kept some of the features from the Swiss website, we redesigned others. We optimized Laurastar's U.S. site to improve the customer flow and boost conversions through simplified add-to-cart steps and navigation.

Our team was able to design a site that provides an excellent user experience that feels luxurious. The attention to detail in the abstract design was necessary to showcase their unique brand, but also their high-end technology.

We developed a completely custom BigCommerce theme with intelligent interactions and viewpoints. We incorporated Laurastar’s minimalist lifestyle and product photography to support a forward-thinking, tech-driven experience.

Our designers chose clean colors with bold and striking fonts. The visual contrast gives users a feeling of engagement with this cutting-edge company.

THE RESULTS

After working with the team at DigitlHaus, Laurastar’s online presence in the U.S. is doing great. Their new platform allows them to easily manage content, add new products, and adjust their digital catalog at any time.

We were able to secure significant savings for Laurastar. After migrating to BigCommerce, they have saved a total of 35% on ownership costs.

The company also experienced a boost in conversions and an improvement in site speed.

To date, Laurastar continues to partner with DigitlHaus to maintain their online store.
